H. T. Harvey & Associates has served as consultants to the Truckee River Watershed Council since 2013 for the Lacey Meadows watershed in Sierra County, California. The watershed contains more than 1,000 acres of high-quality montane meadow habitat and Webber Lake. The meadow complex has been seasonally grazed by sheep for decades, leading to meadow degradation. Our team led the ecological aspects of a watershed assessment including:
characterizing vegetation communities
assessing species habitat for the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog
identifying forest management and livestock grazing options to improve the ecological functions and values of the watershed
Principal and Certified Rangeland Manager, Matt Wacker, led the creation of a detailed livestock grazing plan to guide the management and enhancement of Lacey Meadows. Our team also prepared the revegetation elements of construction plans for two meadow restoration projects and lead an ecological assessment that documented baseline meadow conditions prior to implementation of those restoration projects.
