In 2008, the City of San Jose initiated a General Plan update known as Envision San Jose 2040. We served as the lead natural resources consultant, contributing substantially to both the General Plan Update and the associated draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR). Our team prepared a description of existing natural resource conditions for creation of the plan, provided input during development of plan policies pertaining to natural resources, and prepared the biological resources section of the EIR. Our extensive work with biological resources in the Santa Clara Valley allowed our team to synthesize information from diverse sources and use our expertise to successfully detail the existing natural resources in the City of San Jose. We then assessed the resource impacts that could have resulted from the General Plan update, and devised General Plan policies to minimize or ameliorate adverse effects.
