Erica Escajeda, Ph.D.

Dr. Erica Escajeda is a senior ecologist and project manager based in Seattle. With expertise in marine mammal ecology, bioacoustics, and Arctic wildlife, she has more than a decade of professional and academic experience. Erica has conducted research focused on whales and pinnipeds in the North Pacific and Alaska. Her work also has covered polar bears, western and semipalmated sandpipers, and other Arctic-breeding bird species. She has numerous publications and has presented her scientific research at national and international conferences and symposia. Erica is part of our fish and aquatic ecology team, applying her marine ecology expertise, strong statistical and data analysis skills, and regulatory and permit knowledge to support client projects and new research initiatives. Project areas include marine mammal bioacoustics, studies and permitting support for coastal development, restoration, and studies, siting, and permitting for marine energy projects. She also supports Marine Mammal Protection Act applications and Endangered Species Act consultations.

Erica received a Ph.D. and a M.Sc. in Aquatic and Fishery Sciences from the University of Washington and a B.A. in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
